Love the idea, but the only place I can reach is Tucson. If I could reach San Diego or LA, then I agree that $2k sounds right.

The good and bad news is that the CHAdeMO receptacle is readily available from Nissan, and the bad news is that it's not cheap:

Is it looking good to keep total cost below 2K? Does the Nissan branding added any cost to it?

Looks like it can be had for as low as $700 from various online parts stores - perhaps a quantity discount could help further. Does it look like the rest is mostly just software and cabling?

Just as a reference, what does the DC Level 1 SAE J1772 combo charge receptacle cost, as used on the Spark EV?

It would be more expensive to source all these bits and build it.

There will be some pricey relays, but yes, virtually all software.

I assume Nissan builds this, which means it may be unlikely to get a better deal. The plug itself is likely built by Yazaki, however.

I don't have any desire to have a Frankenplug on my car, nor have virtually no place to charge.
