Your battery is near perfect. You can let the guilt go!!

You don't need to turn the car on when cold. Just have the charge end near the time you want to leave. Maybe, charge to 80% overnight, and then about an hour before a long trip, top off the battery to 100% on extended charge. This will run the battery heater for an hour.

You can use the cabin climate control any way you wish, but if you want to keep the battery cool while charging with JdeMO, or on hot days, I highly recommend AUTO.

Just select a cabin temp that keeps you happy. Very simple.

Great! Glad to hear that! Thank you.

I hear you recommend using ext range mode pretty often. Does that mean its not as bad to use it as we thought?

The number one killer of lithium is heat.

Number two is cycles

Number three is probably a full charge that is left at a full charge

Number four is a full charge...

Thank you for the info. I passed that info on to people at NDEW who expressed concerns about battery life.

So leaving the battery low on charge does not make the list?
I often have one or two bars left overnight so I can get to work and plug-in next morning.

Taking the battery to it's knees is not necessarily the best. As the SOC get's below 20%, the internal resistance increases, so does temperature. If you can avoid low DOD's, that will help extend the battery's life.

Ideally, the cells would be at -25C and 50% SOC. Everything else is a compromise.

Yes, discharge below 10-20% also is not the best for longest life, but you'll rarely get to 0%.

You can easily charge to 100% everyday, hence 100% being a bigger problem than 0%.

To all our current and future JdeMO customers, Toyota USA has just reached out to us to receive our documents related to performing warranty work on the RAV4 EV that is equipped with our JdeMO fast charging product.

I'm impressed !
Hi Tony, I am considering having a JdeMO installed on my RAV4 EV. My major source of hesitation is the impact this would have on the extended warranty I purchased. Is there an update on the performance of warranty work of vehicles equipped with the JdeMO fast charger? Do you know if the warranty work was related to battery or drive train?

Thanks in advance

So far, the worst thing that I am aware of is having to remove the equipment for a warranty repair. This has happened at least 3 times, that I am aware of.

Virtually all warranty issues are handled, regardless of whether there is a JdeMO installed, or not.

As you have probably read, going to dealers who are openly hostile to the Rav4 EV for your repairs will probably be difficult. Therefore, if you are in California, and need a "heavy repair" (motor, cabin heater, onboard charger are the big three), then I recommend going to dealers that want to work with the Rav4 EV.

Those dealers are:

San Francisco Bay Area:

Berkeley Toyota (perhaps the best for this work)
Palo Alto Toyota (pretty good)

Los Angeles Area:

Carson

San Diego County:

Carlsbad Toyota
