Hello Everyone,

A local business in my town just installed a combo ChaDeMo station. She told me that she was given the unit for free but she had to pay for the installation and will have to pay for any power used. The company on the machine is GP Technology. I just went to their website, www.gptechnology.com, and sent them an email.

Has anyone else heard of this? I have rental properties and one of my locations downtown has a perfect spot for a high speed charger. She told me they spent about $5000 on the install and that was it.

I should add that its a Signet unit. You can see photos of it on Plugshare if you go to 435 W. State St Ithaca, NY 14850

I believe that's a Greenlots network unit, and I can't imagine they would want to put two units "side-by-side" in the same area.

DC chargers typically cost $15,000 to $35,000. I don't recommend using another installation as the basis for the cost of your installation. It all depends where you have the nearest source of electrical power capable of 50 KW, and how difficult it is to get it to your site.

Your first step, of course, is locating a suitable charger. Then, the permitting process (and associated costs) and bids from electrical contractors. Your local, county or state jurisdiction may require handicap access.

Don't forget to put it on PlugShare!
