Here's my 12 month Net Metering bill from SDGE. Bottom line is my electric costs were $586 for the year, which includes 'gas' for my B-Class.

What's yours?

This does not include the Climate Credit because it was taken against my gas bill. I already paid the minimum charges, so the final amount owed for the year was $955.63

My solar system is way too small for two EVs. Last year with only one EV I actually had some negative dollar months in the Summer. It would probably give zero cost for the house alone though. Now that I look at it, the total net cost of electricity ($1009.40/8562) is only 11.7c/kWh. That's pretty awesome considering PG&E rates.

The last two months were on EV-A, hence the Winter On-Peak. The rest were E9-A. Making that change saved me about $26. March-October it's probably a wash, but the months that are over 850kWh net are cheaper on EV-A given my massively off-peak skewed usage.

$955 for 'gas' for two cars is very good.

I'm on SDGE TOU2, but am considering going back to tiered rates. I don't think it will get down to $0.117 per kWh, but its worth calculating.

Looks like you're already there - $651.29/5520kWh = $0.1178/kWh

So, TOU it is then. Math isn't my first language... :)

At my SDG&E true-up date, I paid $4.99. I lost $732 in credits that went unused even though I used 1,397 kWh more than I produced thanks to the beauty of TOU.

This system supports a 4 bedroom house, a Rav4EV, Fiat 500e, and occasionally Volts.

I also use OpenEVSEs that can be used to set charge timer on the Rav4EV from midnight to 5am more exactly than the Rav4's own timer. I also added a multimeter to have a running total of how much energy is used by each car each month.

I did have 3-4 EVs at one time for a short period including a 2011 LEAF, 2012 Volt, 2013 Rav4, and a 2015 Fiat 500e.

I owned a Ford Focus Electric for the first bill and the Rav4 for the second.

DR--Residential rate because we have kids at home most of the day and A/C on all day during summer months.
