Look what I got by email Friday (Dec 1, 2017). I think I paid something like $147 to renew Safety Connect, but will have to dig a bit to find the statement with the exact amount. I've redacted my personal info from the letter. Otherwise it's exactly like it came to me.

Was it necessary to call Toyota and request a refund check or did Toyota spontaneously decide to send the refund check out? I renewed my Entune subscription back in June when it was expiring at the full price for 5 years.

I have been getting the runaround from Toyota for the past 5 months about the refund. One time I spent an hour on the phone with 4 different people at Toyota and they all gave me the runaround. I have also been promised a call back on numerous occasions with no one ever calling back. The Toyota customer care dept points fingers at the Safety Connect dept who points back to Toyota. My most recent e-mail is now implying that Safety Connect is not a part of Toyota and they handle the refunds.

I did a search and I found other instances of the same sort of runaround by Toyota that other people have gotten as well.

See below.

I didn't specifically "ask" for it, but DID ask for a reduction in annual price due to the fact that it didn't work for so long. They then voluntarily came up with the solution, apparently.

I live on the East coast and after purchasing my vehicle in February of 2017, I signed up for Safety Connect. Corporate (Thorn K.) along with my local dealership tried for several months to activate Entunes. In the end they said it was my phone (tried 5 different ones), or my service (tried three different ones) or my location, but it was definitely my fault. :( One year later after having a new (rebuilt) motor installed and a new firmware/software update, my Entunes began to work (with the original phone and service I've had all along) :D A few days into the service and they de-activated it, telling me I didn't own the vehicle assigned the VIN associated with the account. Called corporate and they assigned Thorn to be my account case manager. I called back and said I didn't have any confidence that Thorn would be able to help me. Then got a call from another agent by the name of Alex Green. He was able to resolve everything very quickly. I told him of my yearlong saga of no Entunes and he offered to reimburse all that I had paid for Safety Connect/Entunes for the last year ($139.90) and the current year ($80). A week later I received the check for $219.90 and my Safety Connect?Entunes is active for one more year! :D :D I don't have a direct number or email, but Alex Green was the one who was most helpful with this situation.

Good Luck,

Todd
