Go here, then click on "Toyota RAV4EV" on the left hand side, for some very cool pictures and interesting perspective given by an original RAV4 EV owner . . . note the increase in "internal resistances" over a five year period of the Nickel Metal Hydride cells in the battery pack, and how dual squirrel cage motor electric fans were used for cooling back then.

Also surprisingly, at least to me, back in model year 2002, to buy a (then) new RAV4 EV at sticker price, would of cost $42,500! That was BEFORE there was ever a federal tax credit, so the net purchase cost difference between then and now, after 10 years of inflation, is essentially ZERO!

Here is another super interesting article from the same source illustrating a true, pioneering EV "Do-it-yourselfer" . . .

Current Gen1 Rav4 EV owners can get a $2500 rebate on purchase of the Gen2 in some dealerships right now. Put in your zip code on the Toyota.com site to see if it is true in your area.

I don't have a Gen1, but I wonder what the trade in value is that they would give you?
