did it allow to charge while driving?

from what i understand, most EV's or EREVs dont allow the car to shift out of drive, if pluged up.
(or at least i know my volt wont)

In theory, it probably could have, but in actuality, it probably did not. The genset on the trailer was just an emergency backup to use on trips at stopping points.

When you think about the VOLT's concept of an EREV, it really is "plugged in" all the time while driving. Starting up the onboard genset is managed by the car itself, automatically, to always keep the battery charged, or more accurately, to keep it from discharging below a certain minimum threshold. I think the Chevy Volt is probably the smartest and MOST ADVANCED technology on the road today bar none.

Yes, it charged the vehicle while the vehicle was going. The "Long Ranger" was done by AC Propulsion, EV pioneers and innovators.
