So I assumed with the flood of leases that were done by Carson Toyota 3 years ago that there'd be a flood of used RAV4EVs hitting the market but as far as I can tell, the quantity at Toyota dealerships is really, really low. There are maybe 10 with CarMax. So where are they all ending up? Is Toyota just going to crush them?

Leasees become owners? The cars aren't being turned in much?

I see 34 of them listed on Cars.com. The answer seems to be used car dealers, generally independents and non-Toyota

I guess I'd thought with all of the units Dianne Whitmire was moving 3 years ago there would be some sitting in Carson.

I know that some used RAV's are also being bought at auction by out-of-California dealers. That's how both of my RAV's ended up in Nashville, TN, where I pounced on them. I guess I need a white one to complete my collection!

Well - I can tell you that some dealers buy the Post Lease California EV's in bulk to ship to states where they are not sold - that is how i have purchased both of my EVs.
I live in the Seattle Area and just now we have 3 choices, Tesla, Leaf and Soul EV. these post lease cars are a blessing for those of us that dont fit into those molds.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and haven't actually bought a RAV4 EV yet, but there is one for sale in my area of Phoenix that I'm strongly considering. However the price for it is $22k which is much higher than those listed above! I have checked with the local Toyota dealerships and they say that they will do routine servicing but could not do "recalls" since they don't have the training for them here.

I'm also curious as to whether I could find out who was the original owner(leasee?) of the vehicle. It's a blue 2013. And I know the vin number.

Love this forum. It's been very helpful so far.

I just purchased a used 2013 RAV4 EV with 22,000 miles for 18900 - they gave me a free year of maintenance- I also turned in my leased Prius where they paid the final month of the lease - and they gave me a new set of all weather door and cargo mats. Oh yes and a sunshade.

I might have been able to bargain for a lower price but was overall happy with my decision.

I went ahead with the Toyota financing but will likely switch to my credit union since They have a better rate.

Recently bought a 2013 with 23k miles in So Cal for $14.8k plus tax title etc.
Had Toyota check it out before purchase and they reported no issues.

Turned in my BMW i3 from a lease and loved it but could not be happier with the RAV4 ev space, range, power. No other comparable car except Tesla model x at 7x the price!

115 mile charge goes mile for mile on odometer with no degradation in battery capacity, in normal driving at 65 mph.

Plan to drive it until the wheels fall off!

I did end up purchasing the 2013 Shoreline Blue Rav4 from a used car dealership in Mesa, AZ. There was one other vehicle in the state that I could find for sale and it was a 2014 with less miles, but with a lot more wear and tear. So after researching it thoroughly and finding a dealer within my area that was actually willing to work with me on getting it serviced I pulled the trigger in November. So 3 months later and I have no regrets. It looks brand new and just like a "normal" car. Great acceleration when I need it and I can legally drive in the HOV lane, saving me 30 minutes a day on my commute time! It handles my 50 mile round trip commute with ease and plenty of "gas" to spare. The few times I've had extra driving to do during or after work, I've been able to charge it at one of the two charging stations conveniently located in my company's parking lot.
So although I ended up spending more that what I've seen them going for in California, I am extremely happy with my new car!

I just bought my 2013 with 25K miles, for the bargain price of $19,900. I'm thrilled. I can't remember the last time I ever looked forward to going to the office in the morning!
(I'm selling my beloved gas guzzling Prius, and I'll probably be fading away from priuschat.com, which I'll miss.)

All of the Nissan Leaf lease returns are being blown out at bargain prices also. I'm astonished at how ignorant the used car sales folks are. They don't know how to charge them, they don't know how to read the instruments, and apparently they don't know how to appraise them and sell them. They literally don't understand electric cars at all.
