Curious as to how many owners are on around here and where they get serviced if they need new drive unit or whatever replaced under warranty?

Planning to get one and hopefully get the warranty mainly for the drive unit replacement and why etc...things that I wont be able to do myself. If I'm able to get a drive unit or any parts I would be able to the the swap myself probably but rather not

Any input would be great thanks

I live in Central NY. There is another guy with one further upstate in Webster. Ive gone to my local dealer for a motor replacement and a battery cooling pump replacement. Both went fine.

Thats good to hear.....which Dealer? do you have Jdemo installed? did you just bring it to them cold? just curious. thanks

I have had 4 motor replacements on 3 different RAV4 EVs... one in Washington state at a dealer that had never heard of a RAV4 EV.

All had JdeMO.

All were covered by their respective warranty:

New car - 3yr / 36,000 miles
Drivetrain - 5yr / 50,000 miles
Platinum (optional, extra cost) - up to 10yr / 125,000 miles if purchased prior to the new car warranty ending, or up to 5yr / 60,000 from warranty purchase date for a car over 3yr/36,000, but it MUST be under 9 years / 150,000 miles on the car to be eligible.

I'm the other guy in Webster NY.

I have had some warranty work done with a service tech travelling in from New Jersey. He said there were a couple in Upstate NY and a few in Long Island and CT.
I will have to reach out to them again soon and do my fluid replacements and see if I can get the motor replaced.

The local dealer has been helpful. They also did a great job when I was rear ended.

Hey Mike!!! I haven't seen you around in a long time! You haven't made it to any of the NDEW events in our area. I was beginning to wonder if you still had your car.

How are you doing? How is your car? You have to be getting up there in mileage at this point.

I'm around 62k now. Besides the motor hum issue my car has been fine and I figure we will have it until at least 100k.

I've missed the last few car shows. They are almost always when I have a big project deadline. I've been to about 4 of them locally. When they were small they were a good way to get some time behind the wheel of some cool cars. Here's a list of the cars I've driven at a EV show:
Tesla Roadster
Model S
Leaf
Volt
Ford Focus
RAV4EV (of course)
Honda Fit EV (passenger only)
MB C class (passenger only)
Fiat 500 e (passenger only)
i-mev (passenger only)

I live in PA and work 40 mi. away in New Jersey. I drive a 2013 Rav4 EV with 60K mi. It is serviced at Kotch 33, the local Toyota dealer in Easton, PA. They know little about it as it's the only Rav4 EV they've ever seen. (I know of one other in PA.) But the Toyota regional service manager is called in to diagnose problems, and their service techs seem to do a good job. I've had the motors replaced at 50K mi. under orig. warranty. I am quite satisfied.

Hi,

I'm a new 2013 Rav4 EV owner in NJ. I have yet to see another around. Still struggling a bit to find the right service center to work on an open recall on my vehicle but I only purchased it in late November. Otherwise I love my Rav4 EV.

you mustve purchased the Carmax one in White..... :D

If you guys see a Rav4 EV for sale let me know. Id prefer something salvaged but with good interior parts. I am keeping my eyes open for another Rav that I can buy and keep for parts. They are so cheap I might as well. I want to do some tinkering and a spare motor/battery/charger/etc would be nice.

Finally got my rav4ev about 2 weeks ago with jdemo installed. Im also looking for a salvage or cheap one to mess around with.

Where do you live? I havent seen a salvaged one for a while. But if we each buy a cheap used one from Cali I can try to get a deal on shipping them over here.
