Okay Everybody. When you get home and plug in your Rav4, hit the charge immediately button and let the rav charge for a couple of minutes. Then unplug the J1772 and turn the car on and then off. Then plug it back in with the charge timer set. So Far when I've done this the timer starts within a couple hours of the time it says on the dash when you turn the car off. and has finished before the departure time setting. It still charges a little early, but so far has not failed to charge. I think once the car knows what charging rate is going to be use (by doing the couple minutes charge) , it has a better sense of when to start charging. See how it works for you guys. ;)
