Got the EV System warning message on 2/19/17. Vehicle is 2014 with 25,000 miles. Would not clear after multiple start attempts. Only shiftable to neutral. Had towed to dealer and was advised main battery pack replacement required. 8 days later and dealer has not been able to secure a battery. Says another week.

The thing that fails in the same vintage Tesla Model S is usually the main contactor. Were there any clues prior to this event?

Haven't received the printouts from the last diagnostic so I am unable to post the error codes at this time. But car has 73,300 miles on it now. Should I worry about new 12v I just installed since it may be sitting for a couple weeks? Does the battery thermal management system still run if its not plugged in?

The battery cooling does not work with the car off, however the battery management system (BMS) works 24/7, therefore it will put a drain on the 12 V battery. I would recommend having it put on a trickle charger, unless you have the recommended Bosch 60ah AGM battery. It will be ok.

Had towed to dealer and was advised main battery pack replacement required. 17 days later and dealer has not been able to secure a battery. Says unable to give an estimate of when a battery will be available. Car stopped working with no prior problems at all. Loving the Prius V they loaned me (not really).

What dealer is this? Only asking because another RAV4 EV was parked at the Folsom Service Center when I towed mine in.

Has your battery been replaced by now? My car battery was ordered 3/6/17. Toyota gave me a Camry Hybrid loaner after 10 days of waiting so not too bad but my first vehicle was a Tacoma and my daily round trip is about 85+ miles. I don't miss having to stop at the gas station.

UPDATE: Got RAV4 back on Saturday 3/25/17.

Toyota Error codes: PP312F according to tech this is generic error to code to check Tesla BMS system.

Tesla codes BMS F071, F007, F080, and DI W124. All error codes cleared except F071. Had to connect remotely to car. New battery ordered 3/6/17 and installed on 3/25/17.

Parts listed

00289-G48VC G-48 coolant

I don't see any other parts listed. No serial for battery or part # for battery. Battery failed at 73,107 miles new one battery placed and tested at 73,135. Mileage on GOM at time of pick up and not fully charged 116. Normal drive in today averaged 3.9 kWh which is higher than normal. Speed range 50-72 mph for 42 miles.

We have another RAV4 EV traction battery failure in Portland, for a Seattle owner.

This car will be shipped to California for a new battery.

Yes, those clips (part #90467-09227) fall out and break easily. I buy them 100 at a time for JdeMO installations.

I suspect that a battery swap could be done in just a few hours, if they have the proper battery jack at the dealer.
