Can anyone confirm the battery chemistry of the rav4? i found one interesting article :

https://www.primetoyotart2.com/toyota-breakthrough-battery-technology-lancaster-ma/

Scientists at the Toyota Research Institute of North America recently had a breakthrough involving magnesium metal in batteries. This suggest that they might be using LMO or NMC. However, they are facing challenge in finding magnesium friendly electrolyte.

Does anyone know of a source that can confirm what Toyoto is using?

The RAV4 EV that is the subject of this forum uses battery technology from 2011. That is when the car was developed. The battery pack was developed by Tesla and likely uses cells from Panasonic that are no longer manufactured. Tesla has made several significant changes to their production automotive battery cells in the 7 or 8 years since the design was frozen for this car.

Whatever Toyota is working on now is probably for vehicles to be produced in 2020 or later.
