Does anyone know where I can get, or what the make and model of the gun metal colored wheels were on the prototype Rav4ev?

These wheels?

It's just the 18's from the higher trim like Limited or Sport for the ICE RAV4.

Yeah, those are it, thanks. On the prototype it looks like they chromed the outside part of them and darkened the inside wheel portion.

I assume going to 18" will have a serious impact on the efficiency.
Would going to 16" would be beneficial if you don't drive at high speeds on the freeway often ?

Why would you assume the wheel diameter alone would affect efficiency? If you increase the tread width, it will obviously present a slightly larger frontal area and increase aero drag. Also, changing the rolling circumference can change the efficiency because the motor is turning a different RPM for the same road speed. What I'm trying to say is that the wheel diameter and therefore the sidewall height of the tire does not have a strong impact on the efficiency of the tire. The total weight of the tire/wheel package and the outer dimensions of the tire itself and the internal tire design have a stronger impacts on the efficiency.

The tire industry could do a lot more to communicate meaningful tire efficiency information to consumers to consider when choosing replacement tires.

Id love to get a set of ultra light weight magnesium colored wheels for my Rav. I havent seen anything I really like yet on tirerack.com

That makes more sense, reducing unsprung weight and keeping the tire efficiency the same.

If you have a bigger wheel diameter and same ratio tires (part for suspension) you would need more force
to turn it around. ergo: smaller radius of the tire would mean less torque/effort but more rpm's at same speed.

that is what I was referring to

I found these on eBay and I am tempted to buy them. 17.8 lbs and $300 each.

The 2006-2012 Rav4 wheel center bore diameter is 60.1mm. Those wheels are 73mm.

Oh. Is that the issue that Dianne had when she tried to put on her aftermarket wheels?

I guess I'll have to look into this a bit more.
