Hah, you're a month late!

This is definitely important preventative maintenance as it can leave you stranded, unable to drive your car. And that pesky CR-1632 is not the easiest to find.

That's what I bought when my wife's key fob was dead as a doornail. Strangely, her key for her 1 year old e-Golf also died around the same time.

fusiondynamics, how is that accomplished? Granted, I've never given it effort once I realized the battery was dead. Just jumped in the ICE car.

For reference, the CR-1632 can be found at Radio Shack (if you even still have one around). Don't bother with Target or Home Depot.

I also checked CVS, Orchard Supply and Walgreens and didn't find the CR-1632 battery.

i just noticed that my key fob was occasionally not being detected (inside the car). Ordered batteries on amazon...

yup. one of mine finally stopped working at all today and the CR1632s had come in a couple weeks ago so i replaced both. (no Radio Shack or Fry's Electronics nearby? - order them on Amazon, its the same price...)

this video shows how to get the little key fob apart without breaking it for the type we have for the Rav4EV.

No need to visit a dealer to do this, the batteries cost about $1.50 each.
