Well, that certainly sounds good! Thanks, I'll get in touch after finishing up here. They were going to order the part so I'll see about canceling that.

Re: CHAdeMO for Rav4 EV "JdeMO" by Quick Charge Power
Hey Tony,

I'm at Toyota of Palo Alto getting my drivetrain/propulsion system replaced today ("milling noise") as have of course many others already, but I wanted to call your attention to how they've told me that the service plug for the battery pack is broken and needs to be replaced. It's apparently about a $500 part (plus labor and tax). The same issue came up for my girlfriend's RAV4 when we got its replacement motor last year. The service advisor (also Tony) says that this has been issue with most every RAV4 they've encountered with JdeMo installed.

So, just a heads up if you haven't already heard of this – they say that the breakage comes from not removing it properly and that there is a risk of shutdown if it comes loose. He says he's talked to you about the need for JdeMO removal for motor replacement but I don't know if he's mentioned these broken (and expensive) battery service plugs.

And, to everyone else, they're now charging $160 for the removal and reinstallation of JdeMO while doing the motor replacement. Tony (of Toyota Palo Alto) says their labor cost has come down as they've become more practiced with JdeMO.
Funny coincidence on timing. My car was there this morning and just got approved for drive unit replacement. Service advisor Alex gave me the same spiel about the Service Plug. I looked under the front passenger seat when I got the car back and I don't see any problem. I declined replacing it and I'm calling BS on it. I just don't see how it's going to come loose on its own and lead to shutdown. I'm fine with the $160 charge for working around the JdeMO during drive unit replacement.

Under the front passenger seat?? In the cabin area?

I just went and had a look.... Sheesh! How could a plug under that be in danger of coming loose? And how did it get broken, anyway? (I haven't removed the metal panel to look.) And $500 for a new one plus labor? Even more curious to hear a reply from Tony (our Tony @ QuickChargePower) now.

When you remove the plug the tab sometimes breaks. So Tony couldve potentially broken it when he removed it. Mine was. Regardless, it still doesnt come loose. Mine still stays in place even though the tab is broken. Its a scam by the dealership in order to get more money. I have taken my plug out many times. I also have now removed the plug on the spare battery pack I have. They both work fine even with the tab broken. The handle would really have to be fucked up in order for it to warrant a replacement. But if it actually is, they would be right. If it is not locking then you could hit a bump and it could pop out. I highly doubt there is actually a problem though. Dealer BS 101

Toyota of Palo Alto said the same thing to me when they replaced my on-board charger after it failed. I opened the cover and pulled up on the service plug with about 10+ lb force and it did not move. That was good enough for me - I did not replace it. The cover would also keep it from moving very far if it ever came loose.

We remove the release tab on the battery disconnect. Every time. Yes, I'm aware of the scam by dealers to charge folks for this part. It would be IMPOSSIBLE for the plug to come out by accident. Dumb.

Re: CHAdeMO for Rav4 EV "JdeMO" by Quick Charge Power

ATTENTION: JdeMO customers who have had to reset their JdeMO unit.

Quick Charge Power will update your low voltage harness that will allow automatic reset of your JdeMO. Free. You just pay for shipping BOTH WAYS.

Just remove the low voltage wiring harness from the main JdeMO control box to the Tesla onboard vehicle charger, and then plug in the original Toyota harness back into the Tesla charger, and then send it to QCP. Don't forget to DISCONNECT the 12 volt battery before removing the harness, and also when reinstalling the harness. Also, don't forget to plug in the Toyota cable into the Tesla onboard charger, or your car won't even start!

Re: CHAdeMO for Rav4 EV "JdeMO" by Quick Charge Power

I am looking for a used Jdemo kit.
I just bought my second 2012 RAV4 EV and would like to upgrade it with Jdemo - An new kit with shipping, custom and taxes to Europe would cost me about 5000USD - that makes no sence for a 9 year old car. But perhaps anyone has a kit from a salvage car or a leaner .

Best regards from Austria
