Thanks Tony. I'll remember that if it ever happens again. The dealer just did what Tesla told them to do. The part came from Tesla, as well as the diagnosis. The fuse was kind of square with orange plastic around the edge on one side.
To answer the other question, yeah I was in sport mode and...
It turned out to be the service port under the dash. The 325amp fuse blew. Not under warranty. It's costing me $925.00 (Correction: It was actually $1002.00 with tax.) Bummer. Oh well, at least I'll get my car back and it wasn't the battery dying like the last time it quit on me.
Yeah, I'm still under warranty. The motor was replaced in January of this year and the traction battery pack was replaced in March of this year. The Toyota Factory Rep said 12 months unlimited miles on the motor. The battery pack is brand new, so it's covered for another 8 years , 100K miles...
On my 3rd motor and my 2nd battery pack and car died on me while passing a logging truck on the way into work. Luckily, I was going fast enough at the time to still pass and then pull off to the side of the road. Dreaded Check EV System warning. This is really frustrating.
Hi,
I own the Rav4 that had it's battery pack replaced at 96,000 miles under warranty. According to Tony Williams, only 5 Rav 4s have had to have their battery packs replaced. That's less than 0.2% of all Rav 4 EVs. That's pretty low. I now have over 100,000 miles on my Rav. At 96,000 miles...
Before the battery pack went bad at 96,000 miles, the mileage at 3.5 KWh was 126. So My battery was down by about 13.1% and that was charging to 100%, 5 days a week, twice a day for about 3 years.
They replaced my main battery at about 2 weeks ago with 96K miles on the car. I hope this isn't shades of what's to come for Rav4 owners. Tesla told my Toyota dealer that they hadn't seen this occur before mine.
It happened again. Approximately one month after it happened in January, I got stranded again. This time, the dealer said it was my traction battery pack. Tesla sent them a new pack without even telling the dealer. I now have a full capacity pack with 96,000 miles on my Rav4 and a new motor. :D
Changed to the Interstate Group 24F from Costco. It's bigger than the OEM Group 35, but fits the holder better. Cost was $93. Has a 42 month full replacement warranty.
