How many owners here are still on their original Drive Unit?

As the title states, I was wondering how many members here with a Rav4 EV are on their original Drive Unit? I'm guessing not many?

Greaseless ball bearings:Tesla should use these instead ?!

Yes, that sounds like the "drone" issue. The 2nd gen Tesla drive units have a much better chance to be quiet. It's a different part#, and I don't think that Tesla sends those out for Rav replacements. Tesla remanufactured units(what the Rav gets), suck in quality. That's why you and many Model S...

Greaseless ball bearings:Tesla should use these instead ?!

The Tesla drive unit can have many different noises. Most of them are either inverter or gearbox related. I'm not sure I have heard of any motor bearing issues. I'll try and find out.

    Out of State service

You got soaked by a shady dealership. Paying for repair costs out of pocket(that were misdiagnosed), when the vehicle is under full warranty? Wow.

First Test of Extended Warranty to cover EV related parts

And to make matters worse, that circuit is the main(small) difference between the DC/DC in the Model S and the Rav4 EV. The Model S doesn't have DC-DC issues. I have a feeling that those Denso heaters are very poor quality, because the Leaf has the same heater problems.

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

I can assure you that they are the same. The drive units in the Rav-4 EV, B-class EV, and Model S 40, 60, and 85kwh cars are all the same. The P85 has a little different inverter, and bigger CV joints/axles.

Why did Toyota build Rav4 EV? Why hydrogen after 2014 ?

Anybody with a basic understanding of physics can see the dozens of reasons why FC in passenger cars will never work. It's not about technology, but safety. Hydrogen is not a joke, you cannot even see the flame. First responders will be put in a very difficult position if there are FC vehicles...

Potential Out of State Buyer, MN, ?'s

The drive unit and charger are the same as the Model S. The DC/DC converter is almost the same. The heater is not a Tesla part, and looks to be the same as the early Leafs. The battery is the only part that is iffy. I have seen pics of the inside, but they didn't show whether Tesla uses the same...

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. Notice I said almost always on the reliability. Also, of the drive units that Tesla replaced, how many actually failed? A slight noise out of an AC motor is definitely not a failure. It's normal. Just because Tesla has great customer service, and...

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

Like I said, forums are are not a definite indicator of anything. I'm not making excuses for Tesla, just stating my experiences and others I know(who actually own the car). Obviously you have 0 experience in engineering and racing, or you would know that more power almost always results in less...

    Check EV System warning message

The sad part is that Toyota would absolutely love to have a recall that leads straight to the crusher. Then all of their headaches are over.
