ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

This was on a rav4 ev motor plate (under the plastic cover) a dealership was nice enough to send a picture of.

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

I have found one with a (P)Tesla part number: 1004706-97-F (S) Tesla serial number: T13A0006299 Part F sounds bad but it says -97- instead of the -00- shown above. Can anyone tell if this is a good motor? For the amount of miles the stamp looks relatively fresh.

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

Can you describe where this would be stamped for a (low information) dealership salesman? Is this under the motor compartment or under the hood?

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

Is there a way for a dealership to find out if a rav4 ev has had a revision Q replacement installed?

ALL POSTS - motor whine or "HUM" (Milling Sound)

Is it generally true the new replacement motors will not develop the milling sound? Is there a mileage cutoff after which is the milling hasn’t presented itself it is safe to say you didn’t get a bad egg?

    50k range + advice?

Regarding the warranty issue, is there a mileage past which it is safer to assume the motor is not faulty? There are many 2013s / 2012s for sale with higher mileage, I assume it is much less likely that a high mileage motor develop the milling sound?

Range before the drive train/motor needs to be replaced?

Would you recommend searching for a motor with a "Q" before purchasing from a non-Toyota dealer to limit risk of replacing without warranty?

Just looked up the 2014 in Milwaukee, they had this listed at $18,600 two weeks ago. Is that a good deal? Don't forget to get the platinum warranty.

    Electric Motor Future Cost

but are the replacements more reliable or is it still a crap shoot with the replacement motors?

    Electric Motor Future Cost

Does anyone have any info or speculation regarding the electric motor replacement cost over time? I have found a Rav4EV with a 5 year platinum extended warranty. I am still hesitant to purchase with the unknown cost of motor replacement after 5 years. Has Tesla sorted the issue out or plan to...

Buying a Rav4 outside of CA

I just heard back from the local CarMax operations manager, I have in email " the electric motor and the charging port would both be covered by the maxcare service plan". I can only get the warranty contract when I purchase so it will be up to me to verify in the fine print. Again, this is an...

Buying a Rav4 outside of CA

I am looking at purchasing and shipping a RAV4 EV through CarMax out of California. The CarMax Warranty seems to be comparable to the Toyota Platinum Warranty (covers almost everything outside of consumables and battery), I was quoted 60 months/75,000 miles starting from my purchase date for...

    Chevy Bolt

Is the need for motor replacement as widespread as this forum implies or is it more isolated incidents?
