$17,500 off by 1 Dec 2014, Production Ended August 2014

Just to echo what others have said, Dianne Whitmire is really who you want to get your RAV4EV from. I just kicked off a lease on Friday with her and the process couldn't have gone any smoother. Within 5 minutes of sitting down at her desk I was already getting emails from CVRP that my rebate...

Std vs. ext charge vs. charging cycles vs. battery life

For someone who mainly has short drives during the week (< 10 miles/day) and only slightly longer on the weekend (~ 20 miles/day) would it be better to charge more frequently but not all the way (40% SOC to 60% SOC) or less frequently but all the way (40% to 80% SOC)? I've never needed an...

    Check EV System warning message

I'm sorry to say that I'm back in "Check EV System" limbo. This will be the 5th dealer visit and over 30 days in the shop at this point :( So far they've updated the firmware (twice), replaced the high voltage water heater due to a bad connector, and replaced the Gateway ECU. I'm wondering if...

    Entune / Android 4.3

Ouch, thank you for the tip! That's a pretty bad bug, I hope they get that resolved in a timely fashion otherwise Entune becomes useless.

    RAV4 EV Customer Disclosure Form

I bought mine in April and they already had this form as a requirement at signing time. I didn't see anything in there that I didn't know (although the requirement for the Leviton charger didn't seem enforceable). I have the Toyota approved Leviton charger anyway and that still didn't save me...

    Check EV System warning message

I seldom use the AC (and only for short drives) but there was a problem with the connector on my high voltage water pump which is somewhat similar (faulty connector kept coming loose and causing errors). It seems reasonable that any internal condensation combined with a loose connector...

    Check EV System warning message

You're not alone, there's a whole thread dedicated to this problem at http://www.myrav4ev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=338 . The most common cause seems to be the Gateway ECU but there are a few different causes to this problem apparently and no one is quite sure what's wrong at this point.

    Check EV System warning message

My Check EV System light came on again last weekend and I took it in for the fourth time since replacing the high voltage water heater didn't do the trick. This time they replaced the gateway ECU which seems to have resolved most folks problems so hopefully it works for me as well. Fingers...

    Check EV System warning message

I haven't really decided what approach to take with Toyota at this point. If I get another Check EV System light it will be the 4th time I've had to take it to a dealer (hence the 32 days in the shop) and I will most likely request a new one under the Lemon Law. Even if nothing else goes wrong...

    Check EV System warning message

After over 30 days in the shop I finally have my EV back. The apparent cause of my "Check EV System" light was a bad connector to the high voltage water heater. The part was back ordered but after it got in and they replaced it there have been no more error codes. Hopefully that resolves the...

    Check EV System warning message

I received a voicemail from the dealer today that the problem with my car apparently is with the heater assembly causing wiring connection problems. The part is on backorder though so it will be at least 1-2 weeks (and likely longer) before they can make the necessary repairs. Since I've...

    Check EV System warning message

Mine will be in the shop until at least sometime next week when they can fly someone from Tesla down to take a look at it. Kevin Spillane appears to be the one at Toyota HQ coordinating it on the corporate side and seems to be aware of the other issues people have reported, hopefully they're...

    Check EV System warning message

Unsurprisingly, I was greeted with another "Check EV System" light this morning on my car and it wouldn't shift into gear. After rebooting it (just once) I was able to at least get it in gear and drop off my kids. The first dealer I took it to didn't have any loaner cars. The second dealer...

    Check EV System warning message

The paperwork shows "CUST STATES CHECK EVE SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON CHECK AND ADVICE POOR POWER TRAIN LOGIC AND STATIONS CHARGING SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY UPGRADED BETTER LOGIC. CHARGED VEHICLE TEST DROVE 8 MILES LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON" Definitely not the most impressive diagnosis but...

    Check EV System warning message

I was just told that my car was ready and that the problem was the dealer's EVSE. While I realize that an "incompatible" EVSE can trigger the "Check EV System" light, my unit at home is a Leviton and the Toyota unit is a Leviton. I've never charged from a non-Leviton EVSE. They claim that the...

    Back up beeping

I got mine from Carson Toyota and they wouldn't disable the beep for "liability concerns." Since the incessant beeping only makes me reverse that much quicker to stop the noise the exact opposite should be true. I'll have to find a different local dealer for my next service who is a little...

    Check EV System warning message

My consistent "Check EV System" error message that developed Saturday night forced me to take it into the dealer Monday morning even though I really would have benefited from the HOV stickers for my drive. Unfortunately, it wouldn't even let me put it in gear until I restarted it 8 times. I...

    Check EV System warning message

I unfortunately have now joined this unlucky club :( With only 550 miles on my car I came back from dinner last night to the Check EV System display although the car still operated normally (3 mile drive home). This morning everything was normal but after a short trip to the store it's come...

    Storage / Long Term Parking

I left mine in the driveway for 10 days while I was away on vacation and learned the hard way that the cig adapter is unpowered while the car is off (otherwise my solar charger would have prevented me from finding a dead 12v battery on my return). I'll have to look into running some wires from...

    Climate control + range

It does seem rather odd that if I turn the fan on low with A/C off the GOM shows a 10% decrease in range. Hopefully that wouldn't translate into real world mileage loss so high unless Toyota found the worlds most inefficient fan.
