Solution to avoid range anxiety - Carry a generator

As previously stated it depends if the genset has a bonded or floating neutral. Small portable units tend to be of the bonded variety. I just can't get comfortable will a smelly gassy generator strapped into the passenger compartment. How about one of those trailer hitch carriers ?

Leviton EVSE, do I need to upgrade my panel to 250 or 300A?

Assuming this is a North American single phase 120/240 electrical service ? We run a 20Kw electric furnace, two fridges, a freezer, 4.8Kw water heater, 4.8Kw clothes dryer, a 300amp AC/DC Hobbart Welder, 3HP air compressor, water pipe trace heating, shop electric heat, 1 HP electric well pump...

Depends if Toyota zero emission vehicle sales are meeting government regulatory numbers.

    FWD only...........well darn

Snow belt on the east coast of Lake Huron. Not unusual to be pushing snow with the front bumper on the way home from work or heading into town. Occasional drifts up to the hood to drive through. Horse trailer to haul in muddy soft fair grounds.

When looking through the specs I just made a disheartening discovery. Apparently the Toyota Rav4 EV is only front wheel drive ?

Well.............I'm going to have to eat some crow here  . The manufacture did somehow manage to obtain " UL (Underwriters Laboratories), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), and OSHA (United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration.)" approval. I...

Buying new tires...anyone done this already

As what has probably been said before .Tires are the top and most important part of your vehicle. Choosing the cheapest tires that will fit or the wrong tire has maimed or killed many thousands of people . All season Tires while some folk claim they are every bit as good as snow tires with...

I'm a retired firefighter and a 309A Industrial Electrician. I have seen enough home brewed inventions go wrong . To be concerned for the safety of persons and property.

Solution to avoid range anxiety - Carry a generator

There is one brand of Chinese Clone that does actual pass stringent quality control , it's the Champion brand. So it's either the HD 7000/7200/7500W version that passes California emissions. Or the 120V output 1600/2000W inverter Champion. I have some experience with them in off grid...

The smallest Quick 240V from two 120V outlets?

A properly built EVSE or properly converted CHAdeMo is one thing. Using a split kitchen receptacle to obtain 240 would really surprise :o me if a relay protection system was certified. Even using a four wire clothes dryer or electric stove receptacle will make the local electrical code...

Solution to avoid range anxiety - Carry a generator

MODERATOR EDIT- First warning for personal attacks. This is not the Spark EV forum where you can say and do anything you wish. You are going to bolt a generator into the vehicle then running it inside the vehicle with the windows open ? The risk explosion from gasoline fumes, oil...

The smallest Quick 240V from two 120V outlets?

What an imaginative violation to the National Electrical Code and hazard to life and property. I'm contacting the forum administrator to have this hazard removed before the site gets sued. Ever wonder why there double male ended cord sets are not sold in stores with CSA or similar sticker...
