I thought 120V EVSE would only charge battery at slow rate, then have efficiency losses. I thought Level 2 6.6+kW was needed for preheat without using big battery.
Yes.
It may be easier to find 120V when running errands & battery is cooling, not plugged in.
Look at Plugshare filter 120V only & ask when you're doing errands locally. Keeping the battery warm during winter would give summer time range & other benefits...
1. plug into (timed?) 120V 15A. This means there's 2 plugs going into your car: 1 for charging, 2nd for this gizmo.
2. warm battery fluid
3. enjoy heat, full regen from start, full battery with longer range, improved battery lifespan
This upgrade has a long history of use. I'm shocked Tesla...
The RAV4EV is going to be baked by the paint shop at 140F. Currently has Optima yellow top. In preparation, I got a Valence U1-12RT (Ebay used, $160) for whenever the Optima needs replacing.
Hopefully it will ship with manual https://mrbill.homeip.net/downloads/userGuideValenceRT.pdf
There I...
Search 'ev vampire drain' & this is a common issue - especially when either things malfunction or settings are chosen that take the normal vampire drain & cause it to be 3-5X.
There's vampire loads on the 12V & on the big battery. Most people complain about the big battery losing (1-3%) range...
The 7W solar panel on the dash typically is wired directly to the 12V battery. I like this better than a low voltage disconnect, unless there's no light. Then I'd just remove the negative wire. Panel can be used elsewhere too.
Thanks for clarifying. Once I get the RAV4EV back I can take some...
Thanks.
Wouldn't a solar trickle charger solve many of the shortcomings of the 12V battery occurring when leaving the car off for a week or more? $30 7W at https://www.harborfreight.com/7-watt-solar-panel-kit-64801.html
I like the idea of having a solar trickle charger I can use elsewhere...
We may have dodged a bullet. They say car now turns on & 77% SOC. In addition to charging, I told them to turn on for 15 min every week.
Still following topic for 12V battery replacement recommendations. Is the 12V battery test they do at dealer or auto parts store good or is there a 'Tony...
Jan 21 I drove our 2013 RAV4EV with Optima yellow top battery to dealer for warranty work on peeling paint. IRA Toyota Danvers, MA got approval to do work including a rental Corolla. Told them to charge it. They found more paint to repair & haven't gotten approval for extra areas yet. Again...
Magically it worked! No clue if maintenance was done. I did call Chargepoint.
Sequence may matter: yank Chademo plug out, from station, firmly insert into Jdemo, then put phone on station to activate session.
Can't figure out how to include pic:

Joined the club, 2nd owner at 33Kmi, 2013. Not sure what I can add to this post that'd be helpful. Shipping parts takes 3-5d but if they get this 3hr job done when they arrive, car is at dealer for 1 week. Practice makes perfect, LOL. Toy extended warranty will take fees & 5d car rental (except...

Directly to 12V battery, 1200W (2400W peak) inverter with load meter - works great on 12A lawn mower (showing 440W). There's 2 zones beyond extension cord length so I use the RAV4EV instead of gas tractor!
Currently mounted on top of plastic, hood...
I'm said driver. I have Jdemo installed 1/19, works on many other Chademo locations/brands.
At this location (141 Winthrop Ave Lawrence, MA), Chargepoint app says 50kW. If someone's able to test this location & report Jdemo install date, that would be most helpful. Thanks for all the replys so far!
