    Out of State service

Hi Seattle, Doug & all, I wrote my experience on another thread (Out of state service in the General/Main forum), but I'll give a quick review here. The bottom line (for me anyway) was not good. Before actually purchasing my Rav EV, I contacted Toyota USA about purchasing. They initially...

Out-of-State service in AZ, Round 1

My situation was much like JSpearman ... actually, even worse. Before purchasing my Rav EV, I wrote repeatedly to Toyota USA - telling them I really wanted to buy this car, and asking them to allow for "out of state" purchase. After telling me NO initially, they later relented ... telling me I...

    Out of State service

That was my concern too, but the service manager assured me they have 3 techs with Rav EV certification. She provided written confirmation for my peace of mind, so I could proceed with the purchase from Carson Toyota. We'll see what happens.

    Out of State service

My local Toyota dealership confirmed with me before I bought my vehicle that they have trained technicians for the Rav EV, and promise complete service for it. I even got it in writing first. So I'm (fairly) confident I'll have no issues with them. Still, I'm ready for anything. It sounds...

    Out of State service

I'll be due for my 6 mo/5,000 mile service in 4 weeks, so If someone else hasn't replied about their out of CA service before then, I'll get back to you. MY local (Vancouver Washington) Toyota dealership committed to service my Rav EV, before I finalized my purchase. We'll see if any issues...

    EV+PV - Who Has It?

Beautiful home, Tec. I love that it's one level too. I'd really like to get solar panels, but I live on a golf course and I can't get any solar provider to warrant panels for damage from wicked hooks. Does anyone know if panels are rugged enough to withstand something like that? Too much...

Buying a Rav4 outside of CA

I bought my Rav from Dianne at Carson Toyota (in January), and I didn't pay CA sales tax. As AVLegends mentioned, you only pay CA sales tax if you personally take possession off the lot. I had a transport company pick up and ship it up to Washington state. No CA tax, and no WA tax either.

    Driving in B mode

I have to agree with TeCKis300 - that coasting in N is not safe when you cannot instantaneously accelerate if needed. Sure, you can flip the gear shift to D, but could see a case where you see someone running a stop sign or red light (headed right for you) and you instinctively hit the...

My Rav4 stalled out on me.

I had something similar happen several weeks ago. I stopped for a quick meal at a fast food restaurant (with a mostly full charge), and when I started the car to leave, the GOM displayed "low". It would still drive, so rather startled, I headed for home. As I drove, the GOM miles started to...

    Back up beeping

Keyes Toyota are wrong. I bought my Rav at Carson Toyota and requested the backup beep change before they shipped my vehicle up here to Washington state. It was done as requested.

Buying a Rav4 outside of CA

Tony is right. The $7,500 Toyota subvention cash will be applied to the loan (you must take out a loan with Toyota Financial). It's offered at 36, 48 or 60 months, all at 0% interest. I was originally going to pay cash, but why not enjoy using Toyota's money for no interest? Even the piddly...

    Range on RAV

Good advice ... thanks Tony. So, just to make sure I'm understanding correctly (I have the flu right now, so not up to full strength), I should charge most every day, but stop charging around 60%, and charge again when drops to around 30-40%? If so, I think I'll default back to the 110 charger...

    Range on RAV

I drive only 15-20 miles per day, on average ... and I only charge every third day. I believe the fewer charge/discharge cycles, the better.

    Range on RAV

I'm not an expert (yet!) on the Rav, but my understanding is the estimated range on the right (above the climate setting) is the maximum estimated range for your current charge - while the range listed on the left is taking into account the climate setting you're currently using. That estimate...

    Map of Rav4 EV Owners

Thank you to Joyride (Chris) for the owner's map. It's cool to see where everyone is located. Thanks for your work, Chris!
