Our Rav goes back this week after 3 years, 80,000 miles

We will be returning ours in a few weeks, as well. We've only put 37k miles on it but it's showing its age in terms of interior wear. We will miss the capacity of the CUV form-factor; there are no other pure-ev options out there that remotely match the ability to haul all the stuff we'd schlep...

    Entune argh!

The hotter it gets out here, the less likely my remote climate requests are to go through successfully.

Have any Rav4EV folks Driven Leaf with 107 miles range?

Yup. I just had mine replaced and it took 2 1/2 weeks because of the hard-to-find glass and special approval required from my insurance company before Safelite could take care of the work. Fortunately, mine was covered. The receipt I received indicated that total cost was over $1,200.

Buying new tires...anyone done this already

I just purchased some Pirelli Scorpions from Tirerack.com and the difference is night and day on both traction and road noise. The original tires would squeal pretty much any time the car wasn't stationary. I've had them on for two weeks now and haven't noticed any appreciable difference in...

    Driver side seat moves...

My driver's side seat has a tendency not to lock fully in position, which results in an occasional shift into a "clicked" position on acceleration or if I shift in the seat.

To keep the RAV, or not keep the RAV, that's the question?

To keep the RAV, or not keep the RAV, that's the question?

Whatever, dude. Every known problem to you and Tony, I guess.

To keep the RAV, or not keep the RAV, that's the question?

Having actually owned both and with no skin in the game (each being my first acquisition of each respective brand), I wholeheartedly disagree. My RAV4EV came to me with interior pillar trim pieces that popped off on their own, gaps in door handle trim through which you can see the underlying...

To keep the RAV, or not keep the RAV, that's the question?

I would love to keep my RAV4EV, but when my lease is up in November of 2017 I doubt I'd want to offer/pay much more than $10k for it, especially knowing that I'll need/want to purchase an additional warranty for peace of mind and that there will be several new vehicles with better range on the...

RECALL: going into neutral / Speed Sensor failure

I received a call from Toyota of Roseville. The rep indicates that the issue this time is a faulty motor generator ECU, which is being replaced. The part will be in sometime early next week. Thankfully, this is a warranty repair, as the part apparently costs approximately $4,000.

RECALL: going into neutral / Speed Sensor failure

You called it. Two days ago, I started the car and it died on me as I was pulling out of the garage. Same symptoms, same "Check EV System" warning. It's going back to the dealer tomorrow. We'll see what happens now.

Cheapest RAV4 EV Toyota Extended Warranty

Potentially dumb question: do these warranties kick in after the standard warranty expires, or does the clock start running as soon as purchased? I'm referring specifically to the number of years (duration) of coverage, as I assume the mileage is a hard ceiling.

RECALL: going into neutral / Speed Sensor failure

Picked up the vehicle yesterday morning and everything appeared to be well. Roseville Toyota did not charge the vehicle overnight (something Nissan always did when I brought the Leaf in for service), so I was unable to drive the car to work. Ugh. I charged the car during the day and when I got...

Almost pulled over for car pool violation

My understanding is that qualified vehicles are required to display prominently the stickers in order to be allowed access to HOV lanes. If you don't have the stickers, you can be ticketed, regardless of motive power.

RECALL: going into neutral / Speed Sensor failure

Update: In person, the dealer was very responsive and acknowledged the seriousness of the problem. They took the car in and provided a no-cost loaner (4Runner). There were several error codes, even though the car fired up with no EV error messages on the day the I brought it in. For the next...
