    Replacing 12V battery

Tony, Thanks for the booklet. I will keep your tips in mind the next time I replace the battery. I noticed that you used a True Start battery which apparently fit perfectly between the edges of the battery hold bracket. The yellow top Optima D 35 is a bit narrower and I had to split the...

    Replacing 12V battery

Got the battery installed. Have noticed that the GOM when the fan is turned on is a good 30 mi. different than the estimated range on the right side display. Turn off the fan, and it jumps up the 30+ miles and matches the other range readout. Any suggestions of what is going on or how to get...

    Replacing 12V battery

Thank you for the feedback. I will check to see if there is anything that needs to be re-set. My battery finally arrived and I found that the Optima 35D battery weighs much more than the original battery. But they do provide a spacer for it to fit better with the top clamp. Jim

    Replacing 12V battery

I have a 2013 RAV 4 EV which has the original Toyota 12V battery (5+ years). I have been reading the RAV4 posts and it seems as though it might be a good idea for me to replace it even though there is no current problem. I ordered an Optima Yellow 35D online and will getting it in a week or...

    350 kW superchargers

Thanks again for a very complete explanation. It appears that charging strategies carefully take into consideration the temperature of the battery. I can only assume that Tesla has figured out how to evenly distribute the cooling liquid to address the challenge of avoiding hot spots in a...

    350 kW superchargers

Thanks for the explanation Tony. You are a wealth of information. You reminded me that any EV will only allow so much elec. flow to charge the battery so the additional capacity of these superchargers is of no consequence for my Rav4 EV (or for most EVs today). But I still would like to know...

    350 kW superchargers

350 kW supercharges are on the horizon. Elon Musk is hearing the competition and has said he plans to install a Tesla V 3.0 supercharger with 350kW capacity. It is said that a 90 kW battery can charge from empty to 80% in 15 minutes. I have one question. If I remember high school chemistry...

Preferred Dealers for Repairs / Warranty

I brought my 2013 Rav4EV into DCH Toyota service dept. in Torrance and had a pleasant experience. They have a full reception area that refers you to a service person that sits down with you to hear why you are bringing in the car. He checked with the technician on some of my questions. They...

Does anyone know if SCE offers the same rebate? I checked their website and could not find it.

Talk me into it. Or not.

I also just bought a used 2103 Rav 4EV Dec. of 2016 and love it. I looked for over a year to find a car that I fit in. I am 6'5" (and long wasted) and couldn't fit in nearly all of the evs out there, including the Chevy Volt or Tesla S. The Tesla X was perfect except the $80-100K price. Aside...
