    Glenn D

I'm very sad to hear this. I just googled his username because I wanted to ask him how long the EVSE he built for me should be expected to last. Got it from him in 2014 and it's still used as our primary charger. Really nice guy and a great resource for all of us.

    Rav4 EV Tax Refund

Congress did renew the expired EVSE installation credit at the last minute for 2014. I got something like $267 of my costs returned.

New owner as of yesterday and have a couple questions

I found the source of my clicking noise, it's the plastic piece of trim below the panel with the electric door locks. I'm pretty tall, so my knee rests against that piece from time to time. It makes an audible click when light pressure is applied.

118 Miles at around 60-65 should be ok right?

I've only really used Eco Hi. It seems plenty strong, including driving around Vacaville on a 100+ degree day. I switched to Normal to try it out once or twice, and it seemed like the fan just blew harder.

New owner as of yesterday and have a couple questions

I've noticed that. It almost sounds like a noise your keyring would make when it swings around in the ignition switch/bumps into the dash. But it's on the left side, and obviously there's no key ring hanging from the ignition switch in this car. I haven't had a chance to further investigate...

    Removing low speed proximity sound

There are some pretty awful ideas behind some of the posts in this thread. I'd focus more on the fact that someone could be seriously injured by disabling safety features on the car, not whether they'll be able to prove fault in court. It's not worth risking someone else's safety to eliminate...

    Portable OpenEVSE at 40A

I've been using a GlennD OpenEVSE for close to two months now. I haven't had any problem with the car pulling a charge when the RTC timer window opens. How long does the car take to go to sleep? The longest between last drive and charge I've tried is probably about 4-5 hours.

    Key FOB

I laundered my key fob, and it didn't even seem to notice. Used it right away.

    Hitch solution to carry plywood

Jimbo, what brand/model of trailer are you using?

    Hitch solution to carry plywood

The hitch seems better for carrying most things like Bikes due to aerodynamics. I'd prefer to only purchase one cargo solution, not both a hitch and a rack.

    Hitch solution to carry plywood

Hi, I'm looking at installing a hitch for general load hauling (Bikes, coolers, camping, etc). I'd also like to have the ability to carry 4*8 sheets of plywood. Does anyone have ideas for a hitch mounted carrier that can do that, or have other ideas? Thanks!

    Surplus inventory of RAV4 EVs

Yeah, they love changing the numbers on you and arguing that a particular monthly payment is "fair." I just told the salesperson to print out the contract and I'd show him exactly why the payment was too high. Once he did that, I got my price. But without having numbers in front of you, it's...

    Surplus inventory of RAV4 EVs

I'll say! Does your $412/mo price include the CVRP rebate? If not, then Hanlees probably took ~ $600 loss on the car to move it off their lot. Nice job! I guess I should've gone there rather than Berkeley.

    Rav4EV sighting

Saw a silver one, looked like a test drive, in Berkeley on Saturday. Wonder if it was anyone from the forum.

Is buying the RAV4 EV a good value decision?

According to my recent research, there are no current tax credits for EVSE equipment unless you are a business.

Gap after Rav4EV and before Tesla Model 3

Extra weight/decreased aerodynamics are really my point. I don't need such a big car and would've preferred smaller and higher range.

Is buying the RAV4 EV a good value decision?

I obsessively ran a bunch of figures through a spreadsheet before I decided on the Rav4 EV lease. With a 72 mile round trip commute, I determined that the Rav4 EV is going to cost me about $70/month to own over the 36 month lease over what I would pay with my 2006 Pontiac Vibe. My calculation...

ALL POSTS - GOM - Range Meter - Distance To Empty meter

I live in an area with a lot of stop signs and short blocks. Driving around town kills my efficiency rating with all the stopping and accelerating. Once I had the chance to take some longer trips and push up my efficiency with highway driving, the GOM started to even out to around 105...

    Rav4EV sighting

Saw a shoreline blue on June 21 as I was walking to the Honda dealer to check out a Fit EV. That car was leased by the time I arrived, which was fortuitous. After I saw the Rav in real life, I realized I should just get one of those! I've seen another Silver Rav4 in Berkeley, also. And, I saw...
