Navigation display wont dim at night

Ok I have looked high and low but cant seem to find out how to dim the navigation display at nighttime. We have two RAVs and one will display a black background at nighttime but the other is stuck in perpetual daytime mode and stays bright at night. Is there an adjustment for that somewheres?

Home button, then second page of the app screen, which will show a screen/display adjustment button.

First you have to enable the dimming via the method that Tony gave above.
Second step is to make sure that the dash display brightness is not on max - turn the brightness thumbwheel on the dash (near the drivers door) to any setting except for max.

I was baffled for a couple months until somebody posted about the second step.
