How to find free charge stations?

I did a bunch of searches and apps but I can't figure out how to find free charge stations in San Francisco. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks in advance.

PlugShare.com and their iPhone app show many free charging stations in San Francisco. However, since it's San Francisco, you usually have to pay for the parking, then the charging is free. There are many filter options in PlugShare, one of which is to hide stations with a fee.
